La Manga strengthens its status as the Region’s flagship golf destination during major UK promotional push
The Region of Murcia has intensified its promotional strategy in the United Kingdom this week with a familiarization trip aimed at seven top British tour operators specializing in golf tourism. This strategic action placed La Manga at center stage, reaffirming its position as one of the Mediterranean’s most prestigious and sought-after golf destinations.
From 13 to 17 November, representatives from renowned companies such as Your Golf Travel, Golfbreaks.com and 360 Golf Holidays explored some of the Region’s premier golf resorts and tourist hubs, with a key highlight: La Manga Club, home to the iconic South Course and the acclaimed Grand Hyatt La Manga Club hotel — true benchmarks for international golf enthusiasts.
La Manga, the top choice for British golfers
Throughout the visit, the operators experienced firsthand why La Manga stands out as the ultimate reference point for British golf tourism: world-class facilities, a year-round exceptional climate, and an unrivalled offer of accommodation, leisure and luxury that make it one of Europe’s most complete golf destinations.
This fam trip is part of the promotional actions led by the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia (Itrem) and the Spanish Tourism Office in London, aimed at consolidating the Region —and especially La Manga— as the leading destination for the UK market, the most important international source of visitors.
Better air connections, greater competitiveness
The initiative also highlighted the strong air connectivity offered by the Region of Murcia International Airport, which this year has expanded its routes and frequencies with key UK cities including London, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham. These connections further facilitate the arrival of golfers to La Manga and the Mar Menor area.
A growing sector with major economic impact
Golf remains one of the Region’s most powerful tourism engines. In 2024, Murcia’s courses surpassed 500,000 rounds, and in the first half of 2025 nearly 300,000 players have already been recorded — a 6% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the latest report by IE University, golf tourism generates over €600 million annually in the Region of Murcia.
La Manga, the icon of an unstoppable golf destination
With exceptional facilities, international prestige and an experience that blends sport, luxury, gastronomy and wellbeing, La Manga stands as the flagship of Murcia’s golf tourism industry. This type of promotional action strengthens its leadership and continues attracting new visitors from a UK market that increasingly values the quality and exclusivity offered by this exceptional Mediterranean enclave.
