La Manga hotels break records in August and consolidate their key role in regional tourism
Hotels in La Manga del Mar Menor were the protagonists of a historic summer for regional tourism, posting record figures for visitors and overnight stays during the month of August.
This destination, which concentrates a large part of the hotel offering along the Murcian coast, has become the main driving force of the summer season, boosting the results that led the Region to achieve its best August since records began.
In total, hotels in the Region welcomed 178,479 visitors in August, representing a 6.3% year-on-year increase, well above the national average of 1.5%. A large proportion of that flow was concentrated in La Manga, which continues to be the top summer destination for both domestic and international tourism.
Of the travelers recorded, 127,651 were Spanish (+5.7%) and 50,828 came from abroad (+8%).
As for overnight stays, the Region registered 456,105 stays in hotels, a 3.5% increase compared to the same month in 2024.
In terms of profitability, the average revenue per available room (RevPAR) stood at €71.24, a 4.3% increase compared to August 2024.
The cumulative figures from January to August also reflect historic records: over one million travelers and almost 2.5 million overnight stays in the Region’s hotels, with a significant share concentrated in La Manga during the summer months.
The Director of the Institute of Tourism of the Region, Juan Francisco Martínez, stressed that “these figures confirm the importance of La Manga as a key summer destination, consolidating its appeal for both domestic and international visitors and reinforcing the sustained growth of the sector in 2025.”
