The Region Launches €350,000 for the New ‘Tourism Voucher’ with Direct Impact on Destinations Like La Manga
The Regional Government has approved an allocation of €350,000 for a new round of the ‘Tourism Voucher – Región de Murcia’ programme, which will remain active from the day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia until 31 May 2026. The initiative aims to stimulate travel within the region by covering part of the costs associated with tourist services.
Since its introduction in 2021, the Tourism Voucher has proven to be an effective tool for boosting demand during low season and supporting the regional tourism industry. Across its previous editions, a total of 9,413 vouchers have been issued, generating more than 21,000 overnight stays. Given the broad accommodation offer in areas such as La Manga, these destinations are expected to feel a notable impact from the new funding.
This new €350,000 allocation follows the call launched in October, which provided €150,000 for the final months of 2024 and remains active until 22 December.
How the Tourism Voucher Works
The programme subsidises 50% of the bill for services provided by participating tourist accommodations and travel agencies, with a maximum grant of €250. To benefit, travellers must book a minimum stay of two nights in regulated accommodation within the Region of Murcia, including:
- Hotels
- Tourist apartments
- Campsites
- Rural houses
- Rural lodges
- Hostels
Tourism Figures Continue to Rise
Tourist accommodation in the Region of Murcia reached a historic record in 2024, registering 1,877,380 travellers, a 5.9% increase compared to the previous year. Of these, 1,421,856 were residents in Spain, reinforcing the importance of the national market — especially for destinations such as La Manga, which continue to attract visitors year-round.
