Snorkeling in Cabo de Palos and hiking in Calblanque, a tourism showcase of the Region

The Region of Murcia is currently showcasing the full potential of its active tourism offer to a group of tour operators and travel agents from eight European countries: Austria, Portugal, Italy, Finland, Ireland, Poland, Belgium, and Germany.

The familiarization trip, organized by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports, aims to consolidate the Region’s image as an international benchmark in nature tourism, adventure, and outdoor activities.

Among the most outstanding experiences in the program are an introductory scuba diving session and snorkeling in Cabo de Palos, one of Europe’s most renowned diving spots, as well as a hiking day in the Calblanque Regional Park, with its spectacular unspoiled coastal landscapes.

The itinerary is rounded out with activities in other parts of the Region, such as a via ferrata and canyoning in Sierra Espuña, forest bathing in Bullas, a cycling route to Caravaca de la Cruz, and rafting down the Segura River in Calasparra. In addition, participants visit iconic places such as the Cabo de Palos lighthouse, the holy city of Caravaca, Cehegín, and Murcia.

According to the Director of the Tourism Institute, Juan Francisco Martínez, “the Region of Murcia has ideal conditions for this type of tourism: an orography that combines sea and mountains, a climate with more than 300 days of sunshine per year, and a rich cultural and gastronomic heritage that complements the nature and adventure offer.”

Active tourism, he added, “helps diversify visitor arrivals throughout the year, becoming a key tool to meet the objectives of the Region’s 2022–2032 Strategic Tourism Plan.”
