British Tour Operators Discover the Charm of Cabo de Palos Lighthouse and Harbor
Cabo de Palos took the spotlight this week as several British tour operators specializing in active and nature tourism visited the lighthouse and fishing harbor, discovering one of the most iconic spots along the Murcian coastline.
The visit was part of a familiarization trip (fam trip) organized by the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, through the Murcia Tourism Institute (Itrem), in collaboration with the Spanish Tourism Office in London.
During their stop in Cabo de Palos, representatives from Inntravel LTD and The Natural Adventure were impressed by the views from the lighthouse, the crystal-clear waters surrounding the marine reserve, and the authentic atmosphere of the harbor, where they learned more about the local offer of diving, hiking, and nautical experiences.
After exploring the coast, the group continued their route through Sierra Espuña, Bullas, Moratalla, Caravaca de la Cruz, and Murcia, discovering the rich diversity of landscapes and culture that the Region has to offer.
The director of Itrem, Juan Francisco Martínez, highlighted that these kinds of initiatives “reflect the Region’s commitment to positioning itself as a competitive, diverse destination with a strong identity.” He also noted that active tourism “is a powerful tool to boost local economies and promote sustainable, authentic travel experiences.”
🌍 The United Kingdom remains the main source of international visitors to the Region of Murcia. From January to September 2025, nearly 300,000 British tourists arrived — a 24% increase compared to the previous year.
With unique destinations like Cabo de Palos — where sea and mountains meet — the Region of Murcia continues to establish itself as the perfect place for travelers seeking nature, adventure, and authenticity under the Mediterranean sun. ☀️
